SO.
On the forums of a miniatures game I play, the topic lately has been about how terrible their horses have looked recently...a specific model especially. Of course 99% of the player base have never seen a horse, so they are calling shenanigans, and telling me that the horse is fine, nothing wrong...
So...I've decided to ask for help from folks more knowledgeable than I with help redlining, and generally speaking taking this image apart...

It might be down to stylisation, but...eww. The legs are short, the head is ugly and I'm sure the knee of the leg that is up is at a different point on the leg to the one on the other leg. I don't think I could put redlines over it, though...I'm not a horse expert. I just know it's wrong.

Exactly! :)
I had to print a pic of it, put it to my light box, and draw the horse sans goodies...*then* redline...
ugh.

Wow...uhh really off.

First, there should be no muscling on the lower rear leg. It's basically bone and tendon down there and the lower leg between the hock and pastern should be two straight, parallel lines.

Second, that pose is impossible. If a horse did that in real life, he'd fall on his face.

Finally, you should be able to tell what gait a horse is in in a good horse sculpture. I have no idea what gait this horse is in.

By the way, howdy stranger! I just kinda stumbled upon this journal.
